Hugo Gomez, MD, MSc, Ph.D.
Dr. Gomez is a board-certified bi-lingual (Spanish / English) adult psychiatrist at Harbor Psychiatry and Mental Health. A 2009 graduate of the School of Medicine in Montemorelos, Mexico, Dr. Gomez and also earned a Master’s and Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology Sciences. He then completed his psychiatry residency program at the University of New Mexico and became a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
For over 15 years, Dr. Gomez has cared for patients in a variety of settings and has significant experience working with underserved linguistic and cultural populations. Moreover, Dr. Gomez has significant experience with pharmaceutical clinical trials and has a robust research background, as he has authored on multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Gomez’s clinical interest includes treating patients with eating disorders and peripartum / post-partum depression. Dr. Gomez provides medical consultation to the Harbor Psychiatry and Mental Health Eating Disorder program and Maternal Behavioral Health Program.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Gomez is an avid reader and enjoys spending his free time exploring the extensive hiking trails in national parks and Southern California alike. Dr. Gomez’s ongoing dedication to his career and as well as his personal interests, exemplifies his well-rounded approach to life, making him a trustworthy and empathetic patient advocate for mental health and overall wellness.
