Thomas Bales, PA-C
Thomas Bales completed his undergraduate studies at Whitman College in Washington state, with a degree in psychology. Upon returning to California, he studied neuroscience and completed a master’s degree at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He furthered his education at Bryant University in Rhode Island, where he earned a second graduate degree in physician assistant studies. He developed his unique motivational therapeutic style under the tutelage of the physicians at Butler Hospital, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge with advanced practitioner students to this day. In 2021 he was awarded PA Preceptor of the Year by Chapman University, where he has helped coauthor the mental health section of a new reference book, Clinical Rotation Examination and PANCE Review (2025). He lectures on various topics including neuroscience, mental health, and clinical medicine at several institutions, including Point Loma Nazarene University, Bryant University, and University of La Verne, where he was appointed Professor of Practice in 2024.
Thomas believes the journey to growth and self-discovery is best undertaken with a cohesive and receptive team that recognizes and embraces the strengths of clients. When he is not actively seeing clients, he is busy studying new developments in neurophysiology, pharmacology, and therapy. He also spends his free time playing tennis, swimming with his family, and listening to music.
