Jennifer Tustison, PMHNP, FNP-C
Jennifer Tustison is a dual board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner whose approach to mental health care is grounded in compassion, scientific rigor, and a deep respect for each patient’s unique needs. With a strong foundation in neurobiology and advanced clinical training, she blends evidence-based psychiatric care with integrative approaches to support whole-person wellness.
Jennifer completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at UCLA, where her scholarly project explored mindfulness meditation as an adjunct to esketamine treatment for major depressive disorder. Her academic and clinical interests have led to multiple manuscripts focused on topics such as psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, nursing ethics, and the evolving role of caring in the age of AI.
In addition to her doctoral training, Jennifer completed an Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute and holds post-master’s certifications in both Psychiatric-Mental Health and Family Practice from California State University, Long Beach. She previously earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of San Diego and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from UC San Diego.
Dedicated to staying at the forefront of emerging psychiatric treatments, Jennifer has experience with modalities such as ketamine and esketamine therapy, psychogenomic testing, and mindfulness-based interventions. She has presented her research at national conferences such as Psych Congress, where she was nominated for the Excellence in Psychiatry award, and at the Psychedelic Science Conference.
Jennifer is also passionate about educating future clinicians. She has served as a preceptor for PMHNP and FNP students at UC Irvine and California State University, Long Beach, and is an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She is a two-time inductee into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Above all, Jennifer values the opportunity to partner with her patients as they pursue greater mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Her practice reflects her belief that healing is most effective when evidence-based medicine, mindfulness, and genuine human connection come together.
